Overview
Roots was the first Burgeon Yo-Yos model: a handmade fixed axle wooden yo-yo. The name came from the idea of building a root system — the first thing Burgeon could make in-house, and the foundation for future growth.

Story notes
A May 2017 update says Mike and the Burgeon Yo-Yos project “started the ball rolling” in January, made the Roots fixed axle throw, and got a new Sprout prototype from the machinist. Life, a move, family emergencies, and a broken lathe interrupted production, but Roots orders, giveaways, samples, and custom woodburned versions were still part of the work queue.
